Creating tiered cakes with a central dowel provides so many benefits and is like an added security blanket. It acts as a vertical anchor, preventing individual tiers from tilting or shifting during transportation or whilst on display. The central dowel reinforces the structural integrity of the cake helping to prevent the tiers from separating or sliding relative to each other.

- Normally I do a buttercream dam but in this video I am doing a ganache dam as it was for a semi naked cake - either is fine.
- Normally I use Eezee dowels for my additional tiers but in this video I am using PME wooden dowels.
